2. Prepare your application materials
Although UT Dallas sets minimum requirements, other application requirements vary by program. Check out the links below to learn what you will need to apply.
3. Apply online
Submit your online application, documents and application fee(s).
UT Dallas Quick Admit
Undergraduate UT Dallas students who recently graduated or current UT Dallas undergraduates who will be graduating soon may qualify to apply using the Graduate Quick Admit application:
Certificates for Current Students
Current UTD students who wish to apply for an academic certificate can apply through their UTD Student Center in Orion.
Eligibility
- Must be a current UTD student.
- Each certificate may have different admission criteria—students will only see options for which they qualify to apply.
How to Apply
- Go to your UTD Student Center and select the Apply to a Certificate Program tile.
- Select and complete the application for the certificate you wish to pursue.
Important Notes
- If admitted, you must enroll in coursework for the term you are applying for; otherwise, admission to the program will be canceled.
- If admitted to the certificate program, you will still need to apply for graduation for the program.
4. Check your to-do list and application status
Check the status of your application and the items required for admission by logging in to your Applicant Center.

Am I eligible to waive my application fee?
Currently enrolled UT Dallas students and UT Dallas alumni automatically have their application fees waived. Military personnel and qualified, current or past Graduate Application Fee Waiver Program participants may also be eligible for application fee waivers.

When will I get my admission decision?
Once your application and all supporting documents have been submitted, your application will be reviewed by the department to which you applied. The length of time needed to make an admissions decision varies depending on the time of year when your file is completed. Please log in to your Applicant Center or contact the degree program to which you have applied to check the status of your admission decision.
When will my application status be updated?
Your application status is displayed in the My Application tile in the Applicant Center. The status of your application will be updated to reflect its progress through the admission process. For more information, go to the Applicant Status page.

Is the English proficiency exam required?
If your native language is not English and you have been educated outside of the United States, you must demonstrate English proficiency.

My master’s application was denied. Will I be considered for my second program choice?
Applicants to a master’s program can select a second program choice within the application. If you are denied your first-choice option, your application will be automatically considered for your second-choice option. To be considered for a second-choice option, you will need to make this selection within the application and complete and submit your application before the application closes. No additional application fee is required.
